Abstract

There are arguments as to the use of this Web and Internet technology within the church, leading many to argue whether or not the Internet is the best tool to be utilized within the church. Elena Larson in 2000 identified that many pastors, preachers and ministers, failed to realize the future of the Internet and the WWW, in fact they identified it as a place that they could not enter in to build relationships but rather see it as a tool for research and research alone.

When one looks a decade later into Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 one finds that Social networking is most probability one of the most used forms of communication and relationship building in the 21st century.

The research methodology will comprise an in depth literature review of how  Web and Internet technologies are being utilized in the church, factors such as the technology and its future implication upon the church will be addressed.

The empirical component of the study will assist in analyzing the current trends and changes in the environment of study. The consequences of this study will be instrumental in the area or research as it will serve as a tool of reference for religious institutes.
